Founder
Patricia Webbink, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, founder and director of Sexual Harassment Consulting (SHC). For over 45 years, Dr. Webbink has been the “go-to” voice in the psychology of sexual harassment, and has had extensive experience with sexual assault, abuse, and domestic violence. She conducts powerful, result-oriented sexual harassment symposia for major organizations, and regularly helps those referred to her for intervention, both those who allegedly have been harassed and those accused of being harassers. Fluent in Spanish, French, and German, she has helped immigrants, many of whom have been severely harassed and abused.
Dr. Webbink is the author of The Power of the Eyes (Springer, 1986) and three other books on intimacy and relationships. She has appeared as a featured guest on many TV and radio shows, notably The Oprah Winfrey and Sally Jessy Raphael shows, and on Voice of America in three languages.
In 1973, Dr. Webbink was featured on Channel 7 Eyewitness News for a week-long series on rape conducted by Steve Gendel. Because it was one of the first of its kind, this show was reproduced in Sweden and all over the world.
Dr. Webbink developed the Sexual Harassment Hotline at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and helped institute their comprehensive program for sexual harassment training and intervention. She also testified on rape in the D.C. Council hearings. She has led many workshops for the Washington Area Women’s Center and was featured in the Washington Post’s Style Section and the Washingtonian Magazine on rape. Dr. Webbink conducted the original training for the Rape Crisis Center in D.C. as well as others at her stone and glass retreat center on 13 acres of wooded land in Northern Maryland. Dr. Webbink was featured in Confronting Rape in America by Nancy Gager Clinch. In addition, she has presented workshops at Universities and various centers over the world.
Dr. Webbink holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology (Duke University). Her work has been published in a variety of professional journals and publications, including the Victimology Journal, US News and World Report, and the Washingtonian. She addressed the Annual Convention for the American Psychological Association and The American Personnel and Guidance Association. She also gave a symposium on men’s liberation with Dr. Jack Sawyer. She also Dr. Webbink wrote an article in the journal, State and Mind and for Womanthology.
Howard J. Ehrlich, Ph.D
Howard J. Ehrlich, Ph.D was a long time business partner with Dr. Webbink. Dr. Ehrlich was an internationally recognized expert, and award winning sociologist and social psychologist in the field of sexual discrimination, harassment, and hate crimes. He was also the founding director of a non-profit, The Prejudice Institute, until his death in 2015. In addition, Dr. Webbink, the Chairperson of the Board of The Prejudice Institute, traveled across the U. S. with Dr. Ehrlich teaching sexual harassment workshops and seminars, educating people about sexual harassment, discrimination, abuse and hate crimes.
Drs. Ehrlich and Webbink developed extensive training programs, educating people about relevant laws and the prevention of sexual harassment. Active in this area for over 50 years, Dr. Ehrlich also wrote and taught extensively; his workshops have been acclaimed both for their content and breadth and for their warm and supportive atmosphere. His most influential book, The Social Psychology of Prejudice (1973), remains the “go to” basis for programs of intervention and prejudice reduction. His work includes Conflicting Views on Race and Ethnic Relations in (1994) and Intergroup Tensions and Ethnoviolence in the Work place: A Manual for Trainers (1993), which contains extensive materials on gender harassment and modes of conflict resolution.
